MultigraphServiceis changing the way we think about visualizing reachability. Using the road network itself, the multigraph service calculates reachability to every node and edge, and exposes multiple methods for visualizing the results: nodes, edges, even aggregated as square or hexagonal grids.
The Multigraph service is comprised of 3 stages
- define maximum travel time, travel mode, sources, etc
- aggreagate reachability from all sources: min, max, mean, median, nearest, sum, _routing_union_
- return the multigraph as geojson, mvt (mapbox vector tiles), or tiled geojson
What is the area which is most accessible from all satellite offices, or the area most accessible for all employees? The multigraph service can highlight areas by maximum travel time, showing where the lowest max travel times are for all sources.
What are the areas which are closest to each source? Determine the service areas for each location based on travel mode. The nearest aggregation can classify areas by the nearest source.
